The Fireside API can now make changes, not just read them. You can create and publish episodes from your own tools, scripts and automations. We've also added many more fields to both podcast and episode listings.
What's new
- Create an episode:
POST /api/v1/podcasts/:podcast_token/episodescreates a draft, starting from your podcast's episode defaults. - Edit an episode:
PATCH /api/v1/podcasts/:podcast_token/episodes/:episode_tokenchanges the title, subtitle, slug, show notes, season, episode type or explicit flag. Only the fields you send change. - Upload files:
POST /api/v1/podcasts/:podcast_token/uploadsgives you a signed URL to upload an MP3, cover art or a transcript. Attach the uploaded file when you create or edit an episode. Each episode now includes anaudio_statusso you can tell when its audio is ready. - Publish and unpublish:
POST .../episodes/:episode_token/publishreleases an episode now, on a schedule, or backdated.POST .../unpublishtakes it back to a draft. - Upload files:
POST /api/v1/podcasts/:podcast_token/uploadsgives you a signed URL to upload an MP3, cover art (JPG, PNG, GIF or WebP) or a plain-text transcript, checked against your plan's limits before you send anything. - Attach media to an episode: pass the uploaded file as
audio_file_url,cover_file_urlortranscript_file_urlwhen you create or edit an episode, so one call can create an episode with its audio and artwork. Audio finishes processing in the background, and each episode'saudio_statustells you when it's ready to publish.
Permissions
The API follows the same rules as your dashboard. Owners, managers and producers can create and publish episodes, and only while the podcast is active.
