How Fireside Works with Podcast Index
Podcast Index helps listening apps discover your public feed. Submit it from Fireside, then check the directory link in Connections. If the show is missing from a particular app, check that app separately.

Add Your Public Feed
- Make sure the show is public and has the episodes and details you want to share.
- Open its Connections page in Fireside and choose Submit to Podcast Index.
- Return to Connections to check for a feed ID and directory link. Submission runs in the background, so a submission date alone does not establish that indexing has finished.
In Podcast Index
You can also use the Podcast Index feed form. Enter the public RSS feed URL, not your podcast website URL or a private subscriber feed.
An Existing Feed or a Change of Address
Check the existing Podcast Index listing before treating a show as missing. Compare its feed address with the one used by Fireside. If the show has moved, send us both the old and new feed URLs and its feed ID so we can check the directory record.
If the directory still points to an old feed, contact Fireside with its listing URL, feed ID, and both feed addresses. We can investigate and refresh the submitted feed information.
Directory Inclusion and Listening Apps
Continue publishing in Fireside. The directory provides feed information to other services; those services control their own search results, listings, and refresh schedules. Finding a show in Podcast Index does not prove it has appeared in every app.
The directory has an app directory if you want to explore the services using it.
Podcast Index does not supply a listener analytics dashboard through this connection. Use Fireside’s metrics for downloads; use the affected listening app’s support for missing search results or episodes.
Request a Directory Correction or Removal
Send Fireside the Podcast Index listing URL, feed ID, and the change you need. There is no self-service removal button in Fireside. If a listening app also needs a correction, include its name and listing URL; it may keep a separate copy of the directory information.
A Missing Feed or Stale Listing
- Submission unavailable
- Fireside’s submission action requires a public show. Check the podcast’s visibility and access to its public feed.
- No feed ID
- Send us the submission date and feed URL so we can check whether the request completed.
- An app is missing an episode
- Compare the published Fireside feed, the index listing, and that app. This helps identify where the update stopped.
- A listing needs correction or removal
- Send Fireside the listing URL and describe the correction or removal you need.
