I'm writing to tell you about an improvement I've made to the file uploading subsystem that I quietly rolled out earlier this week. Perhaps some of you noticed the improvements: file uploads look a bit better, have progress bars showing percentage to completion, and that the forms submit more quickly with less waiting or processing, making for a much smoother, faster experience.
You can see the new UI on every page where you upload an image or MP3 file, such as the Episode form, the Host form, Podcast Artwork, etc. This is an update I've been wanting to roll out for a while, but it required a good deal of interface design, as well as some not insignificant infrastructure upgrades. After a whole lot of testing (and then more testing), I'm happy to announce that I quietly rolled out this update earlier in the week, and based on feedback (and real world testing by you!), it's been working well.
In addition to the progress bars and other enhancements, you’ll also notice image previews for uploaded images, as well an MP3 player, which render instantly after upload.
I'm The Dude, so that's what you call me.
Further, we now process MP3 files in the background after you save or update an Episode, significantly reducing your wait time after you click Save, when our dedicated MP3 processing servers work quickly behind the scenes to add your metadata and artwork to the MP3 file, and publish it to our CDNs, letting you know in real-time that the MP3 file is processing, and when it's completed by rendering a player right in the Episode form.
So why not give it a try the next time you upload an Episode. Actually, you have no choice, since this is the only way to do it now! 😱😜
I hope you enjoy these improvements, and stay tuned, there’s still a lot more to come in 2018 (like Stats v2, Podcast Network support, and more).
