Secret Podcasts Are Here!

I've just rolled out a small but useful new feature: “Secret” Podcasts. Now you can restrict access to your entire Fireside website and RSS/JSON feeds by enabling this feature. When enabled, only visitors and subscribers who know this username and password will be able to view the website or subscribe to the feed. Search engine indexing will also be blocked. Anyone who knows the URLs for your Podcast’s MP3 files will still be able to download them.

This feature will be very useful for people who want to restrict access to specific groups of people (e.g. their company’s employees, teams, friends, family, etc.) rather than sharing it with variable groups like Patreon supporters, as there is only one username and password for all visitors.

Note: Most podcast clients support username/password authentication when subscribing to RSS feeds, but some do not. Please keep this in mind before enabling this feature.

You can enable this (beta) feature and set a username and password for access in your Podcast’s Settings → Advanced section.

A feature to support individual, secret access and feeds designed to work with supporters and donations is on the way soon.

I hope you find the Secret Podcast feature useful.

Happy podcasting!
